Hindustani Music Club organizes Li’l Champs 2018

University Hindustani Music Club, Cultural Education Centre, Aligarh Muslim University organized a solo singing competition ‘Li’l Champs 2018: A hunt for little singing prodigy’ at the university’s Kennedy Auditorium on February 27 & 28, 2018. The competition was open to all the students from class 5 to 10.

Total 28 students applied for the competition from all over Aligarh, out of which 22 contestants were shortlisted for the semi-final round after an audition that was held on February 25, 2018. Semi-final comprised 2 rounds – self-choice and old melodies, while there were also two rounds in final – folk or Sufi and judges’ choice. 10 contestants were able to make for the finals which included: Mohd Raza, Mohd. Abid, Abdul Atif, Zaid Aslam, Faiz Mohsin, Arham Ali, Faisal Nazeer, Shakshi Chauhan, Kaif Ahmad Khan and Akbar Haider.

Faiz Mohsin successfully won the boys’ category, while Mohd Raza acquired the second position. Sakshi Chauhan won the competition in the girls’ category and Arham Ali got the third position. Er. Meraaj Nishat, Meenakshi Nagpal, and Nandan Chatterjee were the judges for the competition.

Prof. F. S. Sherani (Co-ordinator, CEC) and Muzammil Bhawani (Programme Director, CEC) directed the programme. Mohd. Alqamar (secretary of Hindustani Music Club) led the organizing team. Sarim Ashrafi (General Secretary PR, CEC) designed the programme structure and Danish Nazir led the stage management team.

Professor Khalid bin Yusuf (President, Hindustan Music Club, CEC); (Faizan Ilahi (Ex-General Secretary Coordination Committee, CEC); Haider Saifullah (Secretary, University Folk, and Traditional Music Club); Gulrez Hussain Zaidi (Ex-Secretary, University Hindustani Music Club); Momin Ali (Ex-Secretary General Public Relation, CEC), Yugraj, Anas,  Uzma, Saman, Soha, Haya, Yasha, Mudassir, Alisha, Saad, Shahbaz, Tanushri, Aram, Kashaf, Umar were present in the program. Asif Saud hosted the programme.
